About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea.

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

Currently when grouping is turned on, the RAW file is the main file, would be good to be able to set the JPEG (preferably on a per image basis)
There are many ways to resize and customize an images size when exporting. On1 remembers the last setting you used when you open the program again. It would be a great time saver if there were a checkbox to reset all settings to the default settings like when you first install the program.   Thank...
Quite a few times – I need to export an image (without cropping) for external use and Faststone Image Viewer, Lightroom etc allow you to put in the maximum dimensions eg 1920 horizontal and 1080 vertical. Then, when you export – no matter what size or shape your image is (including landscape and vertical) the...
At present, when you import a new raw image file, it always opens in the “On1 Standard” profile. If you then want to apply a “Camera” profile you have to select the profile you want to use. When I import a raw file, I’d like to be able to select one of the Camera profiles...

Its a small thing but frustrating… When using compare, the RAW previews load from last to first. So when comparing files, the first one is highlighted and loads, but 15th will load next etc. I use this view to cull, so I’m waiting on the 2nd one to load before I can cull. If they...

I would find it very helpful if I could create a custom list of Filters settings for use when I’m in Browse, rather than having to re-create or remember filters that I’ve used for specific purposes in the past.  It would also be nice if I could assign or at least associate a custom filter...

I would love to have the ability to specify which camera profile I want applied for all images opened for editing.  Had this feature in LR and miss it as I have to apply Camera Neutral every time I open a photo and if I forget it defaults to ON1 standard so I have to...

Currently Photo Raw uses the preference pane default format option to decide what to send to external editors. While this should be a fallback option, I would prefer multiple settings (based on selected images format – RAW’s, TIFF’s, JPG’s) or intelligent options, such as: If the selected photo is a RAW file and has no...

The Metadata Info being just on the tab takes up space, and the font is tiny and contrast horrible. To flip through photos really quickly, the overlay info needs to be clearer and over the photo; to compare in a hurry. Aperture and Lightroom both have this.

it would be very useful to have an option in exporting/resize to have a “Height = ..” so whether the image is landscape or portrait, they all come out 1000 high (eg) which is good for formatting books, videos, on screens etc. Now, I have to choose all verticals and export to 1000 longest side,...

I often reset my clean install Windows 10.  One thing I hate is having to set all my settings on applications.  I would like to see On1 add the ability to export and import settings from a file.  So, as an example, if I got to Edit –> Preferences, I can make my settings changes...
Several of the presets offered as free benefits to members include adjustments in Develop. The thing is, you don’t know if a preset does that until you apply it. Frustrating after you have spent some time making your own adjustments. Provide a toggle that offers apply / do not apply Develop adjustments on presets. Better,...
upon it once My objective is to have the standalone open up to the last images I was working on rather than call up again How can you do that?

In the past, I would quite often crop an image for composition purposes and then save it to my favourite ratio for slideshows, 16:10. For landscapes, this is fine as long as there are no people in them or anything else that might give the game away.   I recently discovered that this no longer...

The camera icon (just below the desktop icon) could be made more useful by allowing the user to assign their own preferred folder in preferences. For example, although I never use my user/pictures folder I do very frequently access another folder on an external drive. Although ‘favourite/frequent’ folders can be created in the folders panel...

I have a a series of photos that are tack sharp straight out of the camera. Opening them in ON1 they are sharpened to death; really ugly. Please have an option to remove the default sharpening, or remove it by [Reset All]. Thank you.

I would like to be able to choose preferences, e.g. in cropping, choosing “original ratio” coming up as default so I only have to change it to “freeform” on the rare occasions, that I use this. This way everybody can choose their own preferences.

Currently when one chooses a filter, a default style is applied. Suggestion: Allow users to choose a default style from either the On1 styles or a custom style. For example, I often use a border filter (there are many styles to choose from). I use my own border style virtually every time, so rather than...

“Enable Filters” shouldn’t even be an option, because it should be enabled all the time. There is zero benefit for disabling filters, since it’s not filtering out anything unless you also choose a filter condition. Thank you.
It is annoying to have to reset the brush size every time you select between a brush or mask tool and back . It always goes back to 250 which is never the size I need. Also, the size selector is too small for making fine adjustments, why can’t it be spread out a bit...
On many presets such as Dynamic Range I would like the ability to create a saved preset and make it my default so each time I select Dynamic Contrast or any other filter it will apply my default preset.
I prefer the Filmstrip View and would like to be able to set a preference so that the application defaults to this view and stays with it when moving between browse and develop.  (The application should support selecting a default view and sticking with it.)
Having an option for saving XMP files that can include the original files extension as well as the name would be useful. e.g. image files names like… .NEF .tif then having the option to read/write XMP files as either e.g. ..xmp or .xmp Prior to starting to use On1 Photo RAW I’ve used the ..xmp...

When you start to work on a photo, I would like to get the question: Do you want to create a version? (Like in the “old days” you got the question “Want to edit a copy or original”). I usually like to create a version but since I am not asked, I tend to forget....
Could the app be made to retain the workspace preferences e.g. If I collapse the nav panel to maximise screenspace it’s expanded again next time I open the plugin at the moment.
Can we have an option to turn off the splash screen when using the Photoshop plugin? I edit lots of images individually every day and it gets a bit repetitive seeing it every time. I appreciate it won’t make the plug-in load faster (although that would be nice too :-).
it would be nice to have the same option as in Lightroom to render my folder with pictures to a 100% preview as Lightroom does. As your browser feature is maybe fast, it still needs a while for it to draw 100% previews especially in RAW and big files. Now I do not have an...

Currently the user can choose Browse or Layers when starting ON1 Photo RAW 2018.1. This option is perfectly fine when users are launching the standalone independently in Windows or Mac or when utilizing the plugin to open an image in Photo RAW via Lightroom. For those of us using another digital asset manager, however, ON1...

It would be useful to be able to click a button and collapse the entire filter stack on an edited photo. Even a keyboard shortcut such as Shift+C would be great. I’ve used that in other programs and love it. It’s a bit annoying to go into a photo that has been processed and have...
