About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea.

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

ON1 Photo RAW Ideas

At the moment, On1 uses US date formatting. MMDDYYYY. This is unfamiliar in many parts of the world – for example UK uses DDMMYYYY. It would be great if On1 had an option to choose date formatting. Such a simple thing, but it would make it much easier for non-US residents to read dates at...
Let’s assume I create a cataloged folder on one disk drive and create albums on this folder. If I now move the content of the cataloged folder to another drive or location I can use ‘locate’ to find the new location and make the folder  available again in On1. But whats about the created albums?...

Is it possible to automated stack recognition and create a “presets” with a proper type of stacking (exposure bracketing for HDR, focus bracketing for stacking…) as starting points for further processing?

When in an album I go to edit a photo or just want to find a photo in the browse module.  When in the album I would like to have the option to right click and navigate to the photo in the folder structure of the browse module.
I like to name all my image files to the following protocol: Format Name:  < Custom Name_Image Date_ Image Time_Original file name > At the moment On1 Photo Raw only allows variations of Custom Name/Image Date_ Image Time/ Count. Consequently my workflow is unnecessarily unwieldy. Actually I don’t yet have a workaround. I would like...

I would like to see some more color labels. For additional categories of photography. Just adding another 4 or 5 extra would be much appreciated. Black, white gray/silver beige etc. Perhaps two shades of a color like blue or yellow. Thanks!

It would be great to use say the backspace key to remove a picture from an album. (I tend to instinctively do this but get a message warning me about sending image to the recycle bin). I can only seem to do it by right clicking and selecting the option from the contextual menu. Incidentally...
This one can be a vice versa deal. When creating albums have the option of automatically creating a keyword with that name. The vice versa is when inputting a keyword have the option of automatically creating an album or nested album. Right now to get both requires doing each chore separately.

1) When creating an album we can immediately select to make it nested within another album. e.g Create a US folder… then create a California folder that can be immediately created within the US folder. Right click US folder and drop down choice would be ‘create subfolder’ and enter a name. Of course we should...

It would be useful to be able to have a shortcut that allows deletion of disliked photos without having to enable filter, select them, then delete them. As a first pass I always mark photos that I want to delete. Having an easier way to delete them would expedite that process

It would be helpful to have command-delete delete multiple files in Browse on Mac. Right now we can delete multiple files here, but it requires the right click/command-click to show the context-sensitive menu, and then another click, which is cumbersome. If this is a preference or part of an assignable key functionality, that would be...
The ability to name/rename files with the original sequence number even if the sequence number is out of order.  For example, file name DSC-0459.nef, DSC-0510.nef, DSC-0651.nef; On rename I might call this 20180818-Macro-0459.nef, 20180818-Macro-0510.nef,20180818-Macro-0651.nef. Currently, ON1 only allows you to use a new sequence number and it renumbers in order.  This should act more like Lightroom...

Display detailed photo info in browse for the selected photo.  Add information as WB, Color space (e.g. sRGB), Color profile (e.g. SD), Focus mode, BKT, HDR, ADL.

Currently, smart albums and filters can select images by creation dates.  It would be useful to have options to select images by creation dates.  For example, “Modified Today” would allow me to quickly export all of the images that I was just working on.

With the power of LUTs being added, I see a proliferation of user downloaded LUTs becoming cumbersome without the ability to create folders, subfolders and easily move LUTs between folders. It would also be nice to have custom LUTs show up in the Quick View Browser tab like custom presets.
Finding incomplete meta data should be easier. At minium: Filtering by “empty” fields (ie: where no Keywords, City, etc.. are set). More fields in Advanced to filter (ie: IPTC Sublocation, City, State, Country, etc…).

I would like the possibility to choose to have the jpg as the default for raw+jpg groups. I often use the jpg and have the raw as backup if I need to do some heavier editing. The jpg will also show how the camera interpreted the scene with it’s camera profiles.
Hi, since last update it’s possible to delete a picture directly from Develop or Effect module. No need anymore to get back to browse and bla bla bla … waste of time and more important losing the focus on your work. So i’m really happy with that. But ( there’s always a but ) why...

There is an icon on thumbnails to indicate that images have been edited. I would like to be able to filter so that I can view all edited files, or more usefully all files which have not yet been edited. I currently add a colour flag (when I remember) but since On1 knows why not...

It’s often, that I develop a picture and set or modify my rating just after. It would be nice to get the rating panel also in the develop module. Currently I have to switch back to the browse module to do this task

In the advanced filter add the ability to have an operator including “equals, greater than, less than, does not equal, contains, contains all, does not contain, is between, etc etc etc” This would allow criteria like Keywords does not contain xxxxx Date between xx and yy Filename contains all “wordone wordtwo”

I need ON1 to stack photos the same way Lightroom does. I shoot a lot of HDR (usually 5 exposures) and use the Stacking feature in Lightroom to prep these images for the culling process. It’s just a few steps. Select the photos I want to group. Click on the images I want the app...
I use the excellent file renaming feature quite a lot, and many collections of my photos end up containing individual pictures with names like DSC01385-hyde-park-spring-2018-01.arw and so on, with the last two digits increasing throughout the collection. I edit the Title in the IPTC header to have the same name in a different format, such...

I want to be able to keep my originals – .nef, .orf, .cr2, etc. — in a separate, read-only location. That would mean that any sidecar files, intermediate .psd and .tif must be pointed to a different location on a different drive. That read-only location could be a DVD, memory card with the r-o switch...

The one reason I am not using ON1 Raw as a standalone application is I have not found a way to see what albums images reside in from the browser.  I use albums to track images I have published in books, added to the web site, printed, etc.  In Lightroom, I have a button on...

I would personally appreciate a feature allowing to sort photos (when culling) by (i) adding a “NOT” operator (to both stars and colors and advanced criteria) and (ii) adding AND/OR/XOR/NOT operators in between each criteria pair. E.g. select all photos that are two stars or more AND “RAW” only AND file name = “X” OR...
I noticed the new feature in which one can edit the capture date. Which is really great!! Though I am missing something. I like to change the minutes also by offset for a group of photos. I sometime have that my GPS is, let’s say, 11 minutes off, compared to my camera time, which I...
In Browse could you add a feature to stack and/or mark photos from a series of pano images and/or HDR images with a special character or color or smething to immediately see it’s photos from a pano or it’s from a HDR? Like: Select six photos, click on Pano or HDR and – magic –...

It would be a nice feature if there was a duplicate finder. This would allow us to free up space on our hard drives by finding exact duplicates. Reviewing them. Then deleting them. As I have copied photos and videos on my hard drive and renamed them I have found that there are many duplicates...

I will lke to see option of saving a file with maximum size. (e.g. when saving a file i will like to control file size below 2MB/3 MB.) This is important as many websites allow to showcase your work but allow only if file size is below 2 MB)
