About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea.

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

It would be extremely helpful to be able to see the file name and path name of photos in Albums and Smart Albums.  Currently, when I open a photo in an Album, the file name is in the Info tab but I have no idea in what folder the photo is located.

The renaming feature for multiple files is really nice.  However, after setting up a renaming just right, it would be nice to be able to save it for later.  I use more than 1 renaming scheme.

If I’m using ON Photo Raw 2019, and I add a new photo folder into Windows 10, I can’t see the new folder in ON1 Browse unless I put ON1 away and then reload it. It would be more convenient if ON1 could automatically update the file structure to avoid this inconvenience.

When I merge Pano, HDR or Focus I want automatically add final image to same album where source images are.
Having the ability to create and choose specific and separate collections with their own associated keyword database is at the top of my Want List. Commercial work such as event, wedding, architecture, model portfolios, etc.; each require a much different set of keywords as casual (hobby) photography requires. When I added a second collection to...

If I want to filter according to Lens, ON1 shows me a list of lenses that makes no sens to me, as it concludes lenses that I never used and don’t have. It would be much better, if the list of available lenses ONLY includes those that were actually used among the images of my...

If On1 creates a Container file (like a zip file with no compression) to hold the Original photo, Jpeg version, the .on1 file and .xmp file then it will reduce the number of files each photo uses to just one!  Call it .OnZ or something. This could be a toggle setting that you either use...
The number of pictures inside a folder is easy to visualize. But if we have several folders in the browser, we get the number of folders but NOT the whole count of pictures in all the folders, which can be very useful. And simple to implement.
The Browse mode really needs the ability to “cut” photos from a folder and then “paste” them into another folder. I currently have to copy the photos from the source folder, browse to the destination folder, paste them in, browse back to the source folder, select the photos, then delete them. It’s so difficult to...

After I cull in Browse, to possible images worthy of editing, I then edit a subgroup of those remaining images.  But I do not edit all of the remaining images as I notice factors influencing acceptability during the edit phase.  After editing, I go back to Browse to select and batch export all of the...
ON1 has this nice feature of Folder Preview we can set by choosing a photo in this folder. OK. But when the folder contains several sub-folders, it is always the folder preview of the first sub-folder shown as general folder preview. Which can be irrelevant. It would be fine and easy to make a right...

I find the sidecar files brilliant for doing development on the same files from multiple devices, and also for peace of mind of backups. I was wondering if this could please be expanded, so that catalog information is also stored or duplicated in a similar fashion (in the folders at the location of the files)....
Given that most files come off the camera with uppercase file extensions and Mac and Linux can have case-sensitive file systems, saving the exports and copies with lowercase extensions can cause confusion (not to mention when sharing a workflow from Mac to Windows and back have name collisions). It would be extremely useful to include...
Situation: when I come back from photo shootings, I cannot always go immediately thru all photos in a folder and edit the best ones. It may take several editing sessions on my computer to complete the work. I may also be working on several projects in parallel. Presently, it is not easy to figure out...

I have a .gpx file with a series of timestamps and waypoints. I would love to be able to import this data and automatically update the metadata of any matching photos.

I want to look at the thumbnails in Browse and visually see if a photo has already been assigned to an Album.
Have the ability to Target an album to quickly add photos to the selected Album with a shortcut key. For example if I have an album called Zoo, have the ability to make that a Targeted Album where photos can quickly be added to it by using a shortcut key. Right now when I want...

Automatic grouping of burst shots eg idetified with the timestamp in the metadata. Useful for sports, action shots. Manual grouping also possible eg. for panoramashots. And of define the outcome as top Define one best shot as top of the group, the visible one, you could also call it a stack. You could customize the...

Currently when grouping is turned on, the RAW file is the main file, would be good to be able to set the JPEG (preferably on a per image basis)
Please add the ability to create Sync albums and have each album sync to a different folder on Google Drive. When the file is synced (Controlled by manual action), have the ability to change the output file. For example…convert (on the fly) to JPEG, size specified to longest edge, sharpening, remove certain Tags, remove GPS,...

It would be helpful if we could select certain filters using <, >, =. For example, all images with a focal length > (greater than) 200. Today you must specify the exact focal length. I wanted to  evaluating images based on varying focal lengths, ISOs, aperatures, and shutter speeds.

Hi, Three notes… One: When creating a copy of a photo, make the correlative version number to this original photo, not a copy, that is, if the original photo is doc.dng, the first virtual copy will be doc_v1.dng, but if it is done virtual copy of this (or the original doc.dng), name as doc_v2.dng, and so...
I love that we can add our own textures to On1.  However accessing them is cumbersome.  I would love the option to have my  added textures immediately accessible when I chose the texture filter.   Perhaps a category could be added for My Textures at the top (where bokeh, grunge etc. are located).  Then I...
I would like a check mark (toggle on or off) option to have folders sort above photos when in browse. When I am digging down to get to a folder with photos I want to work on, it would be easier if the folders were all at the top. Having the ability to set that...
IMHO: Vendor specific sidecars can be a necessary evil for non-destructive editing, so I do not mind them… as long as they consider impacts on the end user.  Concerns with present implementations (2019, 2019.1, 2019.2)  of On1 *On1 sidecars cause undo stress on storage or cataloging.  On1 side car files should be limited to On1...

The import to folders arrangements are quite limited. My preferred folder structure is YYYYMMDD which is taken from the Shot date in the Exif. It appears that I can only import images into a DD folder within a MM folder within a YYYY folder. Free viewer Faststone does just this, and also allows user control...

Working with Smart Albums is a great way of organising photos. Over time, the number of albums grows and the list gets longer. Many albums though could be collected under a common folder and collapsed to save space. It’s something Lightroom does with its Collections. It would be good to have the same.

Today we can copy files.  The only way to move files is to be outside of the On1 application.  On1 recommends all files be managed by the application to keep the database current….  The present copy from one location to another… then delete the original location…  could be replaced with a more elegant “move” where...

I fins I want to search the all the catalogued folders with an attribute, be that keywords, metadata, tagging etc. This includes all subfolders. Not all lenses are listed, this is frustrating. It is the one thing that I really like in Lightroom…..but I like the wayOn1 looks at my ahed drive folders.

Some camera models include information in the EXIF files that identify the Release Mode (Single, EV Bracket, Continuous Shooting) and Sequence Number (of the image in that mode).  It would be useful for ON1 to make this information available in the image metadata to help users identify related images and shooting order.  An option to...
