About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea.

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

I have a .gpx file with a series of timestamps and waypoints. I would love to be able to import this data and automatically update the metadata of any matching photos.

The import to folders arrangements are quite limited. My preferred folder structure is YYYYMMDD which is taken from the Shot date in the Exif. It appears that I can only import images into a DD folder within a MM folder within a YYYY folder. Free viewer Faststone does just this, and also allows user control...

Working with Smart Albums is a great way of organising photos. Over time, the number of albums grows and the list gets longer. Many albums though could be collected under a common folder and collapsed to save space. It’s something Lightroom does with its Collections. It would be good to have the same.

Today we can copy files.  The only way to move files is to be outside of the On1 application.  On1 recommends all files be managed by the application to keep the database current….  The present copy from one location to another… then delete the original location…  could be replaced with a more elegant “move” where...

I fins I want to search the all the catalogued folders with an attribute, be that keywords, metadata, tagging etc. This includes all subfolders. Not all lenses are listed, this is frustrating. It is the one thing that I really like in Lightroom…..but I like the wayOn1 looks at my ahed drive folders.

Some camera models include information in the EXIF files that identify the Release Mode (Single, EV Bracket, Continuous Shooting) and Sequence Number (of the image in that mode).  It would be useful for ON1 to make this information available in the image metadata to help users identify related images and shooting order.  An option to...
When browsing the photo catalog in grid view, there are many folders shown which do not contain any photos or have anything to do with photography. Is there any way to remove these photos without “deleting” them? Will the “delete folder” function merely delete the folder from the catalog or will it remove it entirely...

It would be great to have better options to organize presets when having plenty of them. I suggest the possibility to create named folders in the Presets section and move existing Preset folders into them. So one can create Preset Theme Collections on their own and won’t get lost in endless unsorted Preset Folder Lists.
Love the concept of Smart Albums, in fact I am in the process of removing dupe images I created to keep in different folders I used as Albums. Of course when you work on one image you need to replace all the images in all the folders. So the concept of Smart Albums is GREAT....

Be able to stack photos from exposure series like panoramas, HDR, focus staking or simply portraits of one person.
If you have applied some edits to a photo in Edit, on returning to Browse the small non-destructive edits icon appears in the bottom right corner of the thumbnail. It would be great if this could be added to the filter criteria so that you could filter to only display images that have had some...
In Lr the quantity of images is displayed on each folder level.  As you go up in the folder structure, the quantity is updated to indicated all images in any nested folders.     The image quantity is needed so that when migrating from Lr, the customer can compare the image quantities in the folders...
Currently, Photo RAW provides only a tiny window for typing an IPTC description for an image with a pop-out single-line stretching across the screen that seems to magically appear at some mysterious point. This method makes it very difficult to enter a long description or to make corrections. Please add a right-click command available when...
The must be a differentiation between numeric, text and date fields with all the relevant search criteria (greater than, equal, contains, starts with, …..). Even a simple search for a focal length of 16 mm did not work properly, it also showed pictures with 160 mm. Combining search criteria must also allow „or“ in addition...
At the moment Browse only uses changes to actual files as criteria for when a modification has taken place, not changes introduced by editing the file in On1 itself. So it is not possible to quickly identify files that have recently been edited by sorting by Date Modified, for example to select files for exporting....

The migration process takes a very long time, and it is hard to tell how long is left or if ON1 has done the job good enough (when comparing to original LR edits) This tool is necessary to finalize migration and abandon LR all together

When importing it is currently possible to automatically organize pictures into a folder structure by day or by month. However, the folder naming is fixed as YYYY/MM/DD or YYYY/MM. If your folder naming differs it will ignore them and create the YYYY/MM/DD folders in addition. Automatic folder names should be more flexible, similar to file...

In LR I can create a collection and make it the current destination collection. As soon as I press “B” the current image is added to that selection, or removed if it was already there. I need that functionality in ON1, too.

I use the star system to rate my photos in lightroom and On1.  Lightroom has a filter of unrated.  After I’ve rated everything I can then select unrated and delete all of the unrated pictures. In On1 I have to start my rating at 2 stars and then filter for less than or equal to...

I cannot understand how it is possible that the image browser cannot be used on UNC paths on networks, but only with mapped drives. Mapped drives are an old and obsolete technology with many disadvantages. I don’t know any other software made in the last ten years who can’t handle UNC paths. Especially as most...

I normally make a collection for a set of selected photos that I have taken on a trip within Lightroom.  Want a plugin in Lightroom, so I can select those photos and send them over to ON1.  This will create a collection or Album in ON1 of the group of photos that I can work...

The way import is now, the folder structure is way to limited. Add functionality to let users create folder structures based on metadata like it is in Lightroom, with no limitations… I for  one can not use On1 import because of this. I need a folder structure that like “/YYYY/YYYY-MM-DD/” Others may need a subfolder...

At the moment, On1 uses US date formatting. MMDDYYYY. This is unfamiliar in many parts of the world – for example UK uses DDMMYYYY. It would be great if On1 had an option to choose date formatting. Such a simple thing, but it would make it much easier for non-US residents to read dates at...
Let’s assume I create a cataloged folder on one disk drive and create albums on this folder. If I now move the content of the cataloged folder to another drive or location I can use ‘locate’ to find the new location and make the folder  available again in On1. But whats about the created albums?...
Is it possible to automated stack recognition and create a “presets” with a proper type of stacking (exposure bracketing for HDR, focus bracketing for stacking…) as starting points for further processing?

When in an album I go to edit a photo or just want to find a photo in the browse module.  When in the album I would like to have the option to right click and navigate to the photo in the folder structure of the browse module.

I like to name all my image files to the following protocol: Format Name:  < Custom Name_Image Date_ Image Time_Original file name > At the moment On1 Photo Raw only allows variations of Custom Name/Image Date_ Image Time/ Count. Consequently my workflow is unnecessarily unwieldy. Actually I don’t yet have a workaround. I would like...
I would like to see some more color labels. For additional categories of photography. Just adding another 4 or 5 extra would be much appreciated. Black, white gray/silver beige etc. Perhaps two shades of a color like blue or yellow. Thanks!
