About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea.

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

Right now when cropping, it appears that the system uses a rule of thirds markers only.  I’d like to be able to adjust that so i can see thirds, quarters, etc.   In short, I am making panels (tiles) but to keep going back and forth with trial and error to resize, tile is a...
On1’s resizing algorithm is one of the best I’ve seen, but there is one major limitation… I have a picture I need to print to canvases, more than one size. I have already done any edits for visual improvement & need only output to print. I can crop to my exact requirement, but then I...

Hi, from my side of workflow(weddings and portraits), i have found that it would be very useful and time saver to be the crop tool inside the browser module also. It takes more time to send the photo to develop for cropping and return to browser again.. Thank you

I find the crop tool a bit cumbersome sometimes, while I use it on the majority of my photos. Ideas for improvement: When you’ve made a crop and want to move the photo a little inside it, the moving is not smooth, but slow and a bit erratic. Can be pretty annoying. Also, if you...

The reason this was and is an issue for me is I do a lot of astrophotography, and use astronomy program to stack images for a more detailed finished image, so take multiple images (20 to 40 images), apply the same edits/effects, but need to crop them down to a smaller size, but the same...

Can your development team reconsider what happens when a user double clicks a NEF file or drag and drops a NEF file onto ON1 RAW? The fact it opens the file in a different mode depending on whether I use Browse or Windows Explorer is contrary to any other Windows program I can think of....
Add the ability to directly crop and rotate the RAW file and only apply the crop/rotate at export and to the thumb nail. It is inconvenient to have to export a huge TIFF file when all you want to do is crop or rotate. Take a look at DarkTable, it’s crop rotate tool work very...

When printing or exporting from RAW, the availability of crop marks would be helpful for trimming the photograph for presentation as it was intended. Thanks

On1 Photo 10 included crop presets for every common print ratio and paper size.  And users could create custom crop ratios (important if cropping for different computer monitor and television ratios).  All this is gone from On1 Raw.  Please bring it back.  Thanks.

I’d like to have the possibility to: – set a default crop ratio, that will be the one I find everytime I open the tool – rotate the crop rectangle simply dragging the mouse, without the need to push the button on top

Hi, Why do photo apps, ON1 included, not recognise that photo paper makers now use the A system, i.e. A5, A4, A3. There are still many photographers who print their own photos. There is no crop for A4 on any photo app, i.e. 8.27 x 11.69 ins. I accept that ON1 is close to A4, with 8.5...

From my workflow point of view the crop tool is in the wrong place. I open any file and adjust the either any vertical or horizontal line so that it is really vertical or horizontal. Then I crop the image to get the best composition. Then I start correcting exposure and all other things. I...
Currently, Adobe Camera Raw is able to preserve the crop set by the camera body (for instance, 1:1). on1Raw isn’t capable of doing that, and it’s a feature that would really help.

Show a selection of different grids when in crop mode, not only the thirds grid. Also others like golden ratio, golden spiral (like in Lightroom).

The crop tool defaults to freeform which I never use.  I almost always use original ratio.  It would be great if we could choose which setting is the default.  As of now, it’s an extra step that I have to remember every time I use crop (which is pretty much every photo).

It would be helpful to create wall display templates with standard sizes of canvas, frames and prints. This would be helpful to select photos for printing and creation of photo wall displays or even preparing for gallery shows. Possibly this could be an extension of the tile function in resize. Ideally, you would be able...

Like many professional photographers that work with wire services, I need to follow their standards when sending live photos to the wire. My particular service requires us to limit our uploaded photos to 4MB maximum. My previous workflow was to use File Mechanic for ingesting, keywording and captioning a photo, and then drop the file...

I find it SO annoying that Lightroom cannot just leave the crop tool at my last dimension, or at least have a lock gadget so I can quickly go through dozens of images and set them all for export as 5×7, 8×10, etc. This would be a wonderful time saver!

Would like to have skew and de-skew capability to adjust converging verticals to parallel. Photo-10 already has the very useful horizontal-leveling adjustment as a Cropping option. This simply rotates the whole photo without changing its proportions. In addition, the ability, for example, to increase top width while decreasing bottom width is essential for some photos....

When doing a large shoot, and then cropping to required size, sometimes client will request an additional crop ratio for the same set of images. In lightroom, when I recrop and then sync, the synced files will have the same ratio, but the placement of the crop isn’t relative to the previous crop (e.g., keeping...

During the initial culling process while using the Browse Module. It would be immensely useful to have the ability to do the initial crop as part of the workflow to decide which images to keep. Many times happens that during previewing an image with the hand tool at different zoom levels some interesting perspective arise. At this moment an instant crop would be very useful. Without such crop, which so far no one offers,  the standard crop mode needs to be started, set the initial zoom level and start again with the...
Possibility to overlay composition templates while preparing image for cropping in order to allow a better selection of effective area for cropped image. Also it will be very interesting if any one can create its own composition templates using guides over an background with rules on tis borders to design them

Eg. Attending an air show, multiple shots were taken from a distance of parachutists landing. This would make for a fun gif.  Manually cropping each picture is tedious.  The ability to “copy/paste” a crop across a number of images would be a time-saver.
