About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea.

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

Hold a set of notes with the RAW image. This can be your post processing reminders etc. Even better if we could overlay hand drawn marks and text where post processing needs to be done.

Editing of a 360° image that had been either pre-stitched or shot with a 360 camera in the same native format as they are viewed as opposed to a flat file.   Current workflow which is not very efficient is something like this: -import raw images and do basic adjustments to all images at import...

Hello, I know this is not easy and doesn’t involve only raw conversion, but, it would be a great advantage for the prg. to have it in this language. Thanks for letting this idea be on your files!Remember that there are photographers in every part of the world that are now using Adobe products and...

I would like to have the option to use a square and rectangular clone stamp that you can size yourself. The round one is great but there are so many situations that a square or rectangular form will work a lot easier. (Obviously next to square or rectangular forms.)

Would like to be able to quickly send an image out after writing an IPTC caption and making adjustments, one button to sent it via FTP or email (complete with presets for naming the JPEG file it spits out), this should work in the background allowing me to continue working on more images. I’d import images...

Allow for easy adjusting font size of interface without changing monitor resolution. Some real estate can be lost but if it is easily changed, being able to read the interface and toggle back would be nice for us poor sighted.

I like capture one’s ability to have layers in the adjustment arena along with masks either by color or brushes. This affords the raw image a more dynamic range before enhancements and effects. Luminosity masking for various tools would be interesting also.

Most raw processors don’t give enough flexibility to adjust the white balance in infrared photos. Without special DNG-profiles you don’t get the white balance right. It would be great, if on1 photo raw could become 1st choice for us who are working with infrared, so we could concentrate on the development and not building workarounds....
I use on1 as my main browser and editor (well, still as a basic first stage browser I use XnView). And I like it. As doing instructional stuff, I often need to take a picture, develop a photo and show back to user. It really slows down my workflow, when I need to constantly save...
I find it limiting that layers can be transformed only in a right angles. I would like each corner to work separately, to allow free transformation, image skewing. Imagine you want to put some texture onto the wall picture, which is angled. Or even better – imagine us, having a studio, trying to replace background...

Also I shoot on a Sigma DP-1, first generation, and it still amazes me with the outrageous color clarity and fine detail. The problem is only Sigma makes software that edits the .X3F file format, and it’s really poor. Too slow, clunky & counterintuitive. I have to do basic edits there, then export a HUGE .tif...
I understand that ON1 Photo 10 has some level of support for the piccure+ plug-in. It would be great if the ON1 Photo Raw could support piccure+ as a layer. In other words, I would add a layer to my raw project and select the piccure+ as an applied adjustment.

As Photoshop has the ability please include a text module. I often make collages of people and add their names using text. Please have the ability to add text to photos.

It would be great to be able to seamlessly import Aperture libraries into the new editor and retain all image adjustments (but I’d settle just for a seamless import of files and EXIF data).

Mountains and other distant o objects have aerial haze (bluish) that is usually removed with a filter while shooting. It would be great to have a method for doing this in On1 Photo Raw. The Lightroom haze remover doesn’t work for aerial haze – it’s better for fog/mist and glare. What we need, is to remove...

Hi, it would be nice in ON1 Photo Raw to have the possibility of Resizing and/or Exporting a file in megabytes just like you can do it in Lightroom (maximum file size). There’s a place where you can send your pictures for a book print but the maximum size of the file must be 15...

In current On1 10.5 I cannot set the metric system to decimals hence the Rezise module and Export options provided (although great tools) are hard to use as whenever you change anything it defaults back to US metrics. The presets as useless for me as they don’t apply to any commercial format available to me...

Allow easy dodge & burn process by the use of only one layer and painting over it, avoiding the necessity to use too much brush layers, some of them to add exposure locally and other to reduce exposure locally too.

I really like using the perfect brush, but sometimes when I am masking difficult subjects, I can’t remember which slider adjusts what, and what sort of settings to use.  Sometimes I guess right and sometimes I make a mess of it.. It would be really useful to have a new symbol, (maybe a coloured gear...

Many times happens that during previewing an image with the hand tool at different zoom levels some interesting perspective arise. At this moment an instant crop would be very useful. Without such crop, which so far no one offers,  the standard crop mode needs to be started, set the initial zoom level and start again with the...

It would be helpful to be able to call an external editor from inside your new editor. This would add functionality by allowing for 2 types of functionality. First, it would allow the user to call function specific desktop apps like Houdah to update exif information or perform other editor specific functions and, second, it...

It would be great to have a comments or notes section. I often find myself with multiple virtual copies of an image in Lightroom with little memory of what processing I’ve done to each one — it’d be wonderful to be able to add a simple note or instruction that is it’s own seperate section.

One of the most important aspect of the photo, is the light. People rarely work with the light and most of the time, when shooting outside, we can see a dull/flat light. Some people are “clever”, and hide that by adding some vintage, pastel, light leak effect. But most people don’t do even that. The...

A fabulous feature in Photoshop is the Shadows/Highlights adjustment. I’ve set up an action to add a smart layer with the my preferred adjustment preset selected, as it’s the only work-around I’ve found to make the settings non-destructive. The Photoshop implementation can raise shadow values and lower highlight values several stops more than the develop...
There are a couple of posts about combining the tools available in each module and making them available in all modules. I would like to go one step further and ask that you give the ability to select the tools you want. Have all the basic features enabled, but create a system to turn on/off...

I suppose the new editor will work with sidecars, so the request is to keep the sidecars separated from the pictures to keep the picture folder(s) clean. A specific folder, eventualy a subfolder within the pictures folder would be fine.

Most prime lenses and camera bodies offer no image stabilisation. Given today’s high megapixel count, most photos have some amount of blur caused by camera shake even at relatively high shutter speeds. My suggestion is to create a tool that estimates the movement and deconvolves it in a automatic or semi-automatic way. This tool belongs...
