About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea.

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

what a bout freely selecting an area of the color space to which HSL adjustments should be made? I sometimes find it rather difficult to get what I want with the green/yellow/magenta… channel adjustments.

ON1 would benefit from a fully remappable keyboard shortcut system, where you could assign key combinations to increase/decrease the individual sliders (or at least the most-used ones, if there would be too many to assign on a regular keyboard). This way you could quickly use two hands, one on the mouse and the other on...

Highlight and shadow warning levels are a must, to see what is blownout on underexposed in the image. But the ablity for the user to define the values of the warning is much better than hardset to 0 and 255. C1 has this but LR does not. Also why add a 3rd warning color for...

A Plugin framework will allow for users to expand the capabilities of the program beyond what it was included with. The SDK for Lightroom has added the ability to publish photos to lots of different online sites, auto building of color profiles (Colorchecker), and many metadata handling options. I have written very specific plugins for my business for...

What frustrates me in most current raw processors (even more than their slowness) is super-contrived import procedure. The biggest selling point for me would be: I just insert the memory card and new photos get “magically” copied on disk or added to respective catalog (if there’s such thing in catalog in Photo Raw). I even...

Would be enormously cool to be able to bind certain sliders (highlights, shadows, blacks, whites are the first that come to my mind, leveling also) to some external hardware controllers. It only makes sense if the latter ones are affordable (cost less than 100USD and not thousands). Would be cool to have some open SDK/protocol...

Would be good to have ability to perform certain actions in the program remotely. For example, if user enables this feature, Photo Raw launches a web-server (and maybe sends it’s IP address to user’s email) and the user can do some “developing” (adjusting certain sliders, etc.) from their mobile device or from tablet or less-performant...

Would be great to have the ability to to have the asset manager break  a large number of imported photos into sessions grouped by time and automatically transfer them into separate  folders. For instance if I had a large SD card loaded with photos from my vacation, it would automatically recognize different days/sessions from the...

I’m suggesting the ability to perform multiple RAW conversions merged into the same output file, with different RAW conversion settings applied to each layer. For instance: one set of settings to bring out the clouds and blue in the sky, with a slight blur a second set to sharpen the details of  the people in...

Admittedly I might live in prehistory… windows does not show thumbnails for RAW files, it would be nice to have the option to quickly generate JPEGs small enough to not clog the hard drive and big enough to get an impression of the picture when going through folders in windows explorer. Maybe the RAW converters...

Would be great to be able to have custom sorting of assets for a photo session by any selected EXIF data with the capability for metrics that would allow a user to examine trends in their photographic techniques. For instance – the ability to sort by focal length and then to get an automatically generated ...

If user likes to shoot similarly lit (but differently looking) scenes, e.g. buildings against the bright sky and then applies certain tonal adjustments it would be good if software could make other similar scenes look similarly (e.g., buildings and sky have similar luminance values irregardless of initial exposure; the software adjusts exposure and tonal curves...

Adobe just added advanced perspective correction in their Lightroom CC release.  This lets me work with perspective-challenged photos without dealing with tilt/shift lens.  Although PS could do this for awhile, the new LR capability makes my life a lot easier.

Please consider adding the option for the user to customize not only the panels but also their colors, mainly between dark and light themes. Black only interface is problematic for some people. Thank you.

A overlay color on the preview to quickly tell what part of the image is in focus. C1 has this and makes for selection much quicker.

Hi, I often shoot in burst mode to augment the chance to get a sharp images in low shutter speed situations. But then I end up having 10 frames or more, and it’s often difficult to pick the sharpest one. Especially when you end up having 50 different situation, so that’s close to 500 images....

Eg. Attending an air show, multiple shots were taken from a distance of parachutists landing. This would make for a fun gif.  Manually cropping each picture is tedious.  The ability to “copy/paste” a crop across a number of images would be a time-saver.

I would like to see a file renaming option across all image versions (jpg, corresponding raw and sidecar files) that will allow to define a filename pattern consisting of static elements (e.g. photographer name or initials, contract reference, etc.) a pattern of image attributes (dates/times, Exif data, counters, GPS data,… ) An option to define...

Much like the latest release of ACR and lightroom, we now have the ability to stitch images into a panorama, and then save and edit that panorama as one DNG file. Would love to see this implemented into Photo Raw.

Look at the leading vfx softwares! for example foundry Nuke or sidefx houdini. every step you make is reflected in a node based tree which makes it easier to undo steps change things upstream and so on. easy spline masking could be implemented and so on.

With a simple click of a button, the software should set the White and Black points automatically based on the number (% threshold) of pixels that are either blown and too dark. A picker (a la Levels) would be nice too so we can pick our own black and white points.

I know the lack of importing has been a big marketing point on Photo Raw, but I (and I’m sure others) have grown accustomed to the cataloguing features of Lightroom and will likely want to continue using Lightroom to organize our files.  It would be great if Photo Raw could synch with our Lightroom catalogues...

I would like a very powerful noise-reduction capability; something on-par with (ideally, better than) DXO prime.  You could have the current noise profiles for less computer-intensive work.

Virtual copies in Lr are great but you end up with duplicate thumbnails in your library. Instead of Virtual Copies, you could allow for, say, “multiple recipes” instead. A recipe would contain all of the adjustments you made to a photo and you could create more than one recipe for each photo. The library would then only...

this is a feature that i use from time to time, and i would love for ON1 to include a streamlined way to create a 32-bit “super RAW” file out of 3 or more RAW files, that would then be editable via a “develop” module. I currently use adobe bridge + Photoshop to combine files with...

The sliders for each adjustment should allow extremes outside of what is considered aesthetically pleasing. For example, we should have the option to over sharpen, apply too much contrast or adjust exposure drastically. This breadth of adjust-ability allows for greater artistic freedom.

While many editors allow for metadata editing (i.e. EXIF GPS location, keywords and IPTC descriptions), they do not save that data to the file, unless exported as a processed format. A headache when transferring RAW files from one editor to another. Functionality to save edited metadata should be included. Aside from editing metadata, data should be...
