About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea.

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

This is something we are not planning on adding at this time.

When you are browsing or searching a folder in Browse that has not been added to your indexed folders the Browse module will only search within the folder that is open in the Browse preview. This does not make sense. You should always have the option to also search all subfolders on top of searching...

For maintenance of albums add a feature “move to album” which removes the photo from the current album adding it to the selected one.

When using ON1 PR as a standalone, it would be nice using plug-ins like Nik Collection via layers, so every editing is stored in 1 file. With masks the edit can be selective addapted.

Adapt Imagemagick (and it’s marvelous mogrify command) to add comprehensive control of the export process including multiple borders and frames (fixed or variable size depending on image size – can be set to a percentage of width or length), drop shadows, and extensive watermarking (both textual and graphical). It does a lot more, too. See...

When I used the suggested method of importing photos (copy & paste in Browse) I was surprised to see that a flat view of the SD file structure wasn’t provided. I had to go into each subdirectory to gather my photos. I looked everywhere for a ‘View Subdirectory’ or ‘Flatten Subdirectory’ option, but didn’t see...

Photo scans of this old paper type into Lightroom is a mess. The paper returns with all these dots that seems to be nearly impossible to really clean up. But the brains there at ON1 could certainly do something to allow us to correct this. Since it was a common paper type used to reduce...

It would be very useful to be able to select part of one image and copy it onto another image. In the current version of RAW, in order to take part of one image and use it in another image one would need to load two images into layers and mask out a large part...

Apart from the ‘Gear Icon’, the name of which says little, there is no clear, quick, obvious way to generate a smart layer that is as simple as in Photoshop. A clearer, more concise method I think is needed no matter the module, and no matter whether an image is opened from Browse, LR, PS,...
Given that On1 Photo Raw has a 32-bit color space workflow, it would be great if I could load HDR formats from other HDR merging tools. Two formats that I’d like support for are OpenEXR and Radiance HDR. This would allow me to merge images using another tool and then import into On1 Photo Raw...

Add support for the OpenEXR HDR format. This would make it easier to leverage multiple HDR tools with On1 Photo Raw.
This is a feature that used to be present but was removed in 7.0/7.5, the ability to place a preset, regardless of how many individual filter layers were in it, onto a single spot within a new custom filter stack. Presets would be so much more useful if they could be more easily incorporated again.
If you would develop a feature to import “ACDSee Ultimate 9” catalog and devlopment and tagging settings of my current photos into On1 RAW this would make it, the do’all tool for my workflow

Using Pixieset for client proofing, when a client makes a selection of images, 100 for instance, Pixieset with allow you to copy the filenames like so: file1,file2,file3,file4 etc You can then copy that text and paste into lightroom and then only that selection of images would show. This feature would be amazing to have as...

First: I am not sure this is in the realm of possibility for ON1, but I have extensive Apple Aperture Libraries which I, and perhaps many other Aperture users still try to maintain and use since there currently is no simple way to transition these Libraries to reference files that can be used directly in...

I have no intention of giving up LR for Photo RAW, but I might like to use Photo Raw’s Raw processing and export directly to LR. The more integration with LR the nore comfortable I will be with Photo Raw.

I love standards. My entire Lightroom library is in DNG. I see no reason to keep my images in the vendors original RAW format.  I want to Photo RAW to convert any RAW files from camera to DNG.

Would be great to have a plugin for photomatix to export and reimport.
I’d like a way to cut different size rectangles out of a picture, not just columns and rows of the same size.  I could also manage this with the stitch request I saw someone else make

ON1 Browse appears to not support DNG format unless you mean that is hidden in ‘Raw from over 250 cameras’. – If not, please add support for (layered) DNG file format in ON1 RAW – In browser ‘convert to dng’ action feature, after conversion open automatically in ON1 Raw o Conversion with the usual, preview...

Wizards may seem a little restrictive but they would help lessen the learning curve. An alternative would be providing users with a macro-builder which could be used to create custom workflows and one or more of these could be used like wizards on top of the creation of macros create a way for users to...

Add file verification whenever importing files from camera cards or moving them from one location to another. Right now the only way to assure you’ve copied files from a camera card onto a computer is to first use an application like ShotPut Pro or Chronosync. These will not only copy files to desired locations but...

Editing of a 360° image that had been either pre-stitched or shot with a 360 camera in the same native format as they are viewed as opposed to a flat file.   Current workflow which is not very efficient is something like this: -import raw images and do basic adjustments to all images at import...
There are a couple of posts about combining the tools available in each module and making them available in all modules. I would like to go one step further and ask that you give the ability to select the tools you want. Have all the basic features enabled, but create a system to turn on/off...

As Nik collection is no more in development, and if it is not patented, it would be nice to introduce U-point radial masks. It works similarly to luminosity masking, creating mask upon the underlying image analysis, dynamically.

I know, it’s a gimmick. However, it works. Olympus includes a colour balance and text enhance in their default JPG processing in-camera. It isn’t possible to steal their algorithms, but ON should offer a variety of them, especially the colour balance. I’ve tested it and the GIMP auto white balance is often the closest (although...

One thing that really annoys me in lightroom is that you cannot assign keyboard shortcuts to your develop presets or local adjustment brushes. When i work on a serie of images all taken on the same location i sync all base corrections and then go through each image individually to do some brushing like dodging/burning, skin...

Well, this would be a bit like the module from LR for creating books, but with some more freedom when it comes to page layout. It does not need to compete with InDesign, but something photographers can use to create nice books, or mostly eBooks these days, of their pages. I always create eBooks with...

Lightroom can only open 1 catalog and this is really annoying. For example exporting all my images from a wedding takes some time. During the export i cannot simply open a 2nd catalog (from another wedding) and start postprocessing those images already
