Targeting Contrast & Detail Adjustments in RAW
I frequently see images where contrast, detail and clarity are applied image-wide and negatively impact soft elements, out of focus details and portrait subjects. In this video I’ll showcase how to use the non-destructive tools in Photo RAW to avoid doing this in your edits and to correct previously edited images.
Using Develop to Make Masking Simple
Often when I first open a raw photo I know that I’ll want to edit one part of it differently than another. Photo RAW’s non-destructive, masked workflow makes this easier than ever. A trick I often employ is starting by creating a mask before I do even the most basic of raw processing. By initially adjusting Develop’s basic tone sliders to unusual extremes, I can simplify creating a very useful mask to use later in the editing process. In this video, I’ll walk you through my process.
Beyond Composition: Designing the Architectural Photograph

No matter how much I read or how deep I looked, I could never get an adequate explanation of how to do it right. “Place your subject off center and use leading lines” was about as deep as it went.
Create Dramatic Architecture Images
Learn how to blend photos into a panorama really fast and create a beautiful dramatic architectural image as the end-result. ON1 Photo RAW 2018 makes it really easy for us to blend our images together, so that makes it easier for me while shooting to not have to dread the post-production of shooting Panos. For this inspiration video, I’m going to take you on a trip from Istanbul to Manhattan and let you know my thought process for capturing with the camera all the way to post-production with ON1 Photo RAW 2018.

We’ll begin with necessary tone adjustments and try different blending modes to take control of the shadows. Later in the video, I will show you creative ways to use the blur and vignette filters to give the photo more depth. Hello ON1 Community and greetings from Chicago! I’m super excited to be here and to be able to share with you a lot of what I know about fine art architectural photography. I’ve been working in this genre for quite awhile and I’m going to help you avoid some of the mistakes that I made. Great architectural photography is about so much more than finding a cool building, taking some photos, and digging into Photo RAW. So, what are we going to be talking about?
