Lake Pehoe, Torres del Paine, Chile
I set off in the dark on April 28, 2025 to catch the sunrise over Lake Pehoe and the the del Paine massif. I concentrated on finding a suitable foreground object when I came across this weathered piece of driftwood resting on the rocky shoreline. Using a wide angle lens and a low tripod position, I waited for the sunrise. To my delight, the sunrise did not disappoint. This breathtaking landscape captures nature’s artistry at its finest. The driftwood adds an intriguing focal point. The lake stretches out calmly, reflecting the sky’s hues of pink, purple, and orange. Beyond the water, the Paine massif stands proudly, their rugged peaks partially shrouded in soft clouds. A line of trees hugs the shoreline, contributing to the scene’s tranquility.
I could not help but feel like this is the kind of place where time slows down, where you could sit back, breathe deep, and soak in the sheer beauty of it all. I wanted it to last longer. But as quickly as this scene unfolded, it faded into memory, swallowed by the inevitable march of daylight.
