ON1 Photo Raw is not compatible with the Raw files from Canon’s new M50 mirrorless camera. The Canon M50 actually ushers in a new era of RAW for Canon cameras by shooting in a new CR3 Raw format, and also offering a compressed version called C-Raw. The M50 camera has now been out for six months, yet ON1 Photo Raw does not support Canon’s new compressed camera raw. What gives folks? Please give this a high priority for supporting CR3 Raw format so that I finally edit my Canon M50 photos in ON1 Photo Raw. This is not the first time I have suggested this update.

Note that Adobe Lightroom as been supporting Canon CR3 Raw format for several months, yet ON1 cannot get around to fixing a serious ON1 camera raw read limitation. Don’t let the competition beat you up!

I ask for the same thing on April 18, 2018. I called support, I was told that this will be included in update 2018.5…. unfortunately didn’t happened!!!
ON1 … you are going to loose a lot of clients

If we have been told that CR3 support would be included in update 2018.5 and it hasn’t, then that at least shows that it is being worked on and we might expect it in the forthcoming RAW 2019 update.

With Canon’s release of the EOS R cameras shooting CR3 images it is now very urgent if photographers are to remain with ON1.

I own a Canon M50. It bothers me to go through the process of converting the CR3 to DNG so I can edit my pics.

ON1 Photo RAW 2019 – still no support for Canon .cr3 files. Shame on you ON1, you should change your name to “ON liar”. I wish I could get my money back. You promised to support for this files in release 2018.

I am pretty disappointed too. I only bought On1 Raw 2018 several months back and then updated to 2019 recently. I bought a Canon EOS M50 today, not giving a thought about On1 support (i.e. I took it for granted this no longer new model camera would naturally be supported). I am disgusted to find that it isn’t.

I found previously that using DNG converter messes up Canon CR2 files in some way. They open fine in Lightroom, but terribly in Capture One Pro, at least the older version I own. I am not messing around converting CR3 files with software I don’t trust, plus needlessly duplicating files for the sake of it. I guess On1 Raw 2019 is way behind the times and not as good as they seem to think it is. I’ll be moving on if this is their idea of support.

Another thing I find disappointing is that I have just read complaints about missing support for CR3 files which are 8 months old or more and yet there is not a single comment from On1 addressing this. Do they not read the forums and have the decency to comment?
On1, if you are not going to support the Canon EOS M50, EOS R and other future Canon mirrorless cameras I might be buying then please tell me now so I can stop wasting money on your software which does not cover my needs. Thank you.

I really didn’t think this would happen!
I have to advertise LR now. At the moment Amaz…offers LR for 84,42€ as prepaid for 1 year. Yes that is more expensive than on1, but it works and is inclusive PS. Thanks to the new tool -structure- one can carry out skin retouching excellently in short time. CR3 support is of course not a question, that’s what it was all about here.
I have decided now actually again for LR. What a shame you dear people from on1!
I paid for it now and will not return to on1 anymore.
That, as a user of the first hour of on1.
