Allow working with offline pictures

Lightroom enables the editing and culling of photos even if they are offline, as Long as a smart preview (a small DNG-RAW-File) was created before.

Please add that option to On1 too, since during travels I save all my pics on an external drive and just user small Versions for culling/editing. This also is a Performance improvement on a mediocre Surface Pro, since the small files do not take that many ressources.

This is absolute must have feature to replace lightroom… For notebook users with small but fast SSD drives.

I absolutely agree with other fellows: this is a must have feature.
I always store my photos on a NAS, but I keep it shut off most of the time, so the Smart Previews from Lightroom really come in hand.
Without this feature, PhotoRaw is a No GO for me.

PS.: Add the Map feature as well!!

This is quickly becoming a non-starter for me after six months of using ON1 Photo Raw 2018 through 2019. I load photos to my home NAS with the intent to review and cull them offline on the bus commute or during coffee shop time only to recall I must be actively connected to the photos. I went through the trouble of transferring (copying since no simple move function in ON1) several batches of trip and family photos back onto my laptop to process offline. I spent several hours this weekend retransferring photos back to my NAS from the laptop. This is laborious.

ON1 claims in item 3 of their 10 Things Lightroom Users Need to Know About ON1 Photo RAW posted on September 19, 2017 by Dan Harlacher the dreaded “missing photo” label of database apps. In the same paragraph they claim their superior process using a single database. Well, I would like to highlight two great values of that “missing photo” label. One, it immediately tells me if something has gone missing accidentally by some action outside of Lightroom’s photo management. Two, it still allows us to review, edit metadata, flag, and cull photos while offline. I don’t spend hours moving photos between locations to work on then worry if my photos and work don’t get moved back correctly.

I agree, I have my Lightroom catalog on my external thunderbolt drive as my laptop has a small SSL drive. If this is not possible with On1, I think I just paid for a brick.

A definite must have when working will thousands of photos, a fair majority of which is on slower storage like a NAS.
