About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea.

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

Currently I’m using the AI masking tool to remove the white background for controlled lighting studio photography, but this process for hundreds of images takes a long time because the AI processing is slow and also requires me to mark exactly what parts of the image I want to keep and discard. It would be...

Hi, I have some experience with Paintshop Pro but have been looking for a better answer for masking/cut outs.  So recently, I have looked at several products (yours, Topas ReMask, FluidMask and a few others).  I like the results from Photo RAW best, however there are a few features of the others that I find...

Today I watched the advanced masking tutorial and acknowledged the option for creating a mask based on color range. I tried this on one of my pictures and could not really get it working right – the tool was selecting a wide range of pixels on the screen, making it useless for some cases. I...

I’d like to be able to use the Clone Stamp and Retouch Brush on masks. I was just playing with refining the edge of a mask and noticed the gradient feathering at the edge was mostly consent, but there were areas where touch-ups were needed. Here’s how it could work: Setting the mask to grayscale,...

After watching a video on creating Glow brushes in LR (Blake Rudis) I tried to emulate the same look in ON1. I was easily able to replicate a brush that offered a very similar look using Local Adjustments, but there is no way to save the settings as a preset. NOTE: the goal is to...

I had a dream…or rather, somebody else did and I thought ON1 users may like to borrow this dream! It’s a very simple idea but I don’t know how to make it real. Head over to a site called Brusheezy, if you haven’t already been there. you can download literally thousands of FREE brushes designed...
On1’s masking tools are amazing, especially since v.2019.2 which is much more stable. BUT… Effects : why is the Perfect Brush tool still on the right hand-side? It should be on the left hand-side, along with the brush the gradient and the AI mask. Local Adjustment : much more annoying! The Brush (shortcut: B) become...
hello, it would be nice, like photoshop, to have a overlay mode on black and white brushes to refine the mask and removing grey “clouds”. we can paint black without modifying white areas,… and, why not, dodge and burn brushes with shadows, midtone,… options for same purpose best regards marc
Hi, I saw a feature the other day where, for example, a radial mask local adjustment could be made and then a luminousity mask could be created which affected that mask only, this would apply to all types of mask, gradient etc… Kind regards Stuart

As it is possible to change the angle of a gradient mask, what is the utility of the 4 options (top bottom left right)? Useless complexity. And why not decide this angle while drawing the mask?… And BTW why a “strong vignette” along with a “vignette”, as we can adjust the feather afterwards?… See Lightroom,...

I have been trying to apply a graduated black and white effect to a 10000 by 3400 pixel horizontal pano shot.  I want this effect to cover the whole width of the pano.  I wanted to achieve this using a masking bug but the bug cannot be expanded to cover the 10000 pixel width.  I...

Like many other users, I would welcome the ability to create custom Luminosity Masks. For example for the extreme highlights or shadows.

Currently it takes 3 clicks to switch between mask views, something I am finding that I am doing quite frequently. A keyboard short cut to do this would speed up this action.

In my editing I frequently make use of multiple kinds of masks. I use shadow and highlight masks all the time when blending exposures, and I also make use of ‘super-highlights’ and ‘super-shadows’ masks in Photoshop. I also make use of mid-tone masks. It would be great to have a one-click solution for creating these!

In the Layers module is a line mask tool. This tool is not available in Effects or Develop. I propose to add it to Effects and Develop.
I use masks a lot and often create one which I use with many filters at once.  Trouble is… I sometimes change my mind about the mask!  This means I have to create the new mask in one filter and copy/paste the revised mask to all the others.    I would like the ability to...
A mask look may be obtained via the window & levels sliders. Inverting such a mask does not give you the negative pixel representation of such a mask. I would like to be able to invert the final look of the mask not the slider settings beneath it!   In a way I’d like to...

Be able to have multiple masks per effect/layer and control how we can combine them to achieve the final “active” mask.   For example: Color range mask + luminosity mask = resulting mask could for example be the union of the two.
In effects, I really love the ability to build my masks by color. One tool I think would be incredibly helpful is to be able to invert those masks once I’ve finished. I often find myself thinking I’d like “everything but skintones”, but at present I can’t select the skin tones through color, then invert...
When using a colour range for masking, it would be helpful to be able to invert that selection to make adjustments and to be able to copy/paste and still invert for further adjustments on other filters.

The ability to copy and paste local adjustments with masks intact and also straightening and cropping settings from image to image would be very helpful, if not essential, for processing a set of frames intended for time-lapse movies, or for stacking into star trail stacks in nightscape photography. It is a shame that the masks...

I often work on raw images that needs a lot of contrast work to bring it to where I want it. Especially if I am working with an infrared converted camera. When I create a luminosity mask, ON1 uses the original image to generate the mask. The new luminosity sliders do a lot to help...

It would be great if you can implement a similar solution. Retouching would be far more easier when I can see the actual effect or mask when hovering over the image. It would be great if this feature is always active like in Affinity Photo or switchable with e.g. ‘P’. Hover over an area press...
hallo, it would be nice to be able, like photoshop, to “alt clic” between two layers to make the upper layer affecting only the layer below. for instance we could blur a texture, color enhance the bokeh layer below,… best regards marc
Add the level adjustment for adjusting the white point and black point.  Like in Photoshop, capture one, Photos, Aperture  etc …

Add more mask fine tuning option also in Layers, like the one used in Effect.
Why cannot I make a “clipping mask” in ON1 like I can do in Photoshop CS? It’s a very powerfull tool and  little by little I’m wondering if ON1 Photo RAW 2018 is worth the money I payed for it!?

It would be useful to be able to re-edit changes to unmasked areas created with a line tool without going into layers where it is only possible to re-edit a non-raw file.

The masking bug is either lineair or oval. With more control points on the oval masking bug, the shape can be changed into a more squared shape. Or maybe adding a more squared shaped masking bug in the drop down menu would be nice.
Would like to have a feature added to new luminosity window bar. Holding down a key to create automatically a left and right fixed distance set points that is equal to a ZONE. then drag that zone set window distance left and right. This will select a specific ZONE to mask.
