About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea.

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

ON1 Photo RAW Ideas

In the Layers module is a line mask tool. This tool is not available in Effects or Develop. I propose to add it to Effects and Develop.

I use masks a lot and often create one which I use with many filters at once.  Trouble is… I sometimes change my mind about the mask!  This means I have to create the new mask in one filter and copy/paste the revised mask to all the others.    I would like the ability to...
A mask look may be obtained via the window & levels sliders. Inverting such a mask does not give you the negative pixel representation of such a mask. I would like to be able to invert the final look of the mask not the slider settings beneath it!   In a way I’d like to...

Be able to have multiple masks per effect/layer and control how we can combine them to achieve the final “active” mask.   For example: Color range mask + luminosity mask = resulting mask could for example be the union of the two.
In effects, I really love the ability to build my masks by color. One tool I think would be incredibly helpful is to be able to invert those masks once I’ve finished. I often find myself thinking I’d like “everything but skintones”, but at present I can’t select the skin tones through color, then invert...
When using a colour range for masking, it would be helpful to be able to invert that selection to make adjustments and to be able to copy/paste and still invert for further adjustments on other filters.

The ability to copy and paste local adjustments with masks intact and also straightening and cropping settings from image to image would be very helpful, if not essential, for processing a set of frames intended for time-lapse movies, or for stacking into star trail stacks in nightscape photography. It is a shame that the masks...

I often work on raw images that needs a lot of contrast work to bring it to where I want it. Especially if I am working with an infrared converted camera. When I create a luminosity mask, ON1 uses the original image to generate the mask. The new luminosity sliders do a lot to help...

It would be great if you can implement a similar solution. Retouching would be far more easier when I can see the actual effect or mask when hovering over the image. It would be great if this feature is always active like in Affinity Photo or switchable with e.g. ‘P’. Hover over an area press...
hallo, it would be nice to be able, like photoshop, to “alt clic” between two layers to make the upper layer affecting only the layer below. for instance we could blur a texture, color enhance the bokeh layer below,… best regards marc
Add the level adjustment for adjusting the white point and black point.  Like in Photoshop, capture one, Photos, Aperture  etc …

Add more mask fine tuning option also in Layers, like the one used in Effect.
Why cannot I make a “clipping mask” in ON1 like I can do in Photoshop CS? It’s a very powerfull tool and  little by little I’m wondering if ON1 Photo RAW 2018 is worth the money I payed for it!?

It would be useful to be able to re-edit changes to unmasked areas created with a line tool without going into layers where it is only possible to re-edit a non-raw file.

The masking bug is either lineair or oval. With more control points on the oval masking bug, the shape can be changed into a more squared shape. Or maybe adding a more squared shaped masking bug in the drop down menu would be nice.
Would like to have a feature added to new luminosity window bar. Holding down a key to create automatically a left and right fixed distance set points that is equal to a ZONE. then drag that zone set window distance left and right. This will select a specific ZONE to mask.

The luminosity masking possibilities in effects and in local adjustments from on1 PR 2018 are great. Love to see these feature in the layers module as well. Also transforming and moving masks in layers would be nice, like flipping, rotating. In overall, more masking, aligning and transforming features is on my with list for the layers module.

Photoshop etc has a quick selection tool that allows some damn good cut-outs – this is a main tool that we use here as we do a lot of composits and not all subjects are easy to do with a masking brush – and can take ages compared to doing it in Photoshop with the...

How about a range of geometric shaped and “smart” selection tools like in photoshop or paintshop pro and the ability to copy and move selections from one image to another and between different layers please?

Sometimes I want to apply a mask I created in Layers to a filter in Effects. This does not seem to be possible in Photo Raw 2017 or the 2018 beta. I can copy and paste masks among layers in Layers and among filters in Effects, but I cannot bridge the gap between Layers and...

Now that there is a color mask in RAW 2018, adding a slider to be able to change the color  selected (and maybe hue and saturation) could be a nice feature to have. I have tried the tint and temp sliders and even used the paint in color feature but having a slider that changes...

I love that you included a luminosity mask option. I think it would be far more useful if you could vary the mask intensity either up or down to increase or decrease the amount of luminosity included in the mask. Better yet  if you had 10 or 12 different mask intensities to pick from or...

For years I have asked and asked FXHOME Photokey to add an extension to allow me to use their tool inside LIGHTROOM. They claimed “No way to do this since we need layers”. HAHAHA. Well ON1 sure showed them. Layers was not at all impossible to do. YOU DID IT. Why not give us (initially)...

at this point you can add a mask to a single effect or add a mask to all the effects. Most of the time I’ve got a group of effects that have the same mask and now I copy the mask between those effects, but it makes changing the mask later on more work.  So...
Hi currently the ON1 Photo RAW 2017 Masking Canvas has gray and white tiles. Please add feature to be able to choose different Masking Canvas colors. It is very difficult using this Mask combination when your images contains white and gray colors. Adobe FireWorks CS6 has the ability to change the Canvas color to any color...
hallo, instead of painting with a masking brush 30% opacity on  amask to decrease its effect, it would be very helpful, like photoshop, to change density of the mask and make black grey,…   best regards marc

Hi, just watched a Nicolesy video which runs through the tilt shift effect (https://www.on1.com/blog/on1-short-clip-simulate-a-tilt-shift-lens/), also demonstrated is how to correct brush stokes made in error using the ‘Erase Brush Strokes’ tool (see 5:20) which does a great job, far better than just +/- masking brushes or perfect brush. I have been advised that the Erase...
I would like a cancel button on quick mask, I often run it over the wrong layer and have to wait ages for it to finish.

Sometimes I want to mask out an object which is too similar in colour to the background for the perfect brush to work.  So, I mask it manually with the ‘Control Click’  method.  Having surrounded the object with a think line of mask, I then want to fill in a larger area, so it would...

REALLY miss this tool as it was a wonderful starting point for any complex masking project.  Perfect brush is good but not great.
