About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea.

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

Please restore the Color Fill Icon. See the following from Nicole Young’s blog. Why do I prefer Color Fill layers? Here are a few reasons why I prefer Color Fill layers to the Paint with Color feature: Color Fill Layer names can be edited. This is ideal when working with more than one fill color...

Please implement these missing tools & functionality: start a new blank layer, trim, increase canvas size, add a color fill layer. These were all available in PR 2018.

I love how On1RAW 2019 now preserves the RAW data and I can adjust the layers later. It is so much better than the previous PSD approach. Unfortunately the created files are unreasonably big, it seems so, not only are the RAW data of each layer being embedded, but also a full RGB representation of...

Photoshop allows “fill” in addition to “opacity”. Some blending modes (e.g., hard mix) aren’t really useful without fill as well. Perhaps it could be shown just for blending modes that use it?

Currently, if you have a number of layers and want to add an effect to the resulting compilation, you have to create a stamped layer. Once you have a stamped layer, effects can be added to affect the whole image. The problem is, if you need to go back to a lower layer to adjust...
I miss dragging and dropping a layer from filmstrip in edit view to the new layer stack. Being able to do a right click there to add as a layer would be welcome as well.   Thanks

My 36 Mb Raw files turn into 600Mb monsters after 3-4 filters in Effects. Unfortunately, there are still many reasons why I cannot abandon Lightroom just yet; there are too many features that LR does that cannot or cannot be done as well (yet) in Photo Raw. Can you at least add a “flatten layers”...
Hi, using the layer module I want to be able to create a canvas and lay, easily, side by side, layers with no gap. The move tool has no coordinates that i could enter to place a layer in the canvas or snapping function that I could engage and disengage. The ring that the move tool...
I like to create Photo Collages. My most preferred program was (and still is) Google’s PICASA program – especially the ability to dynamically create photo collages. However, to use Picasa I need to export my pictures first, then create a collage and get it back to ON1. My wish would be to have such functionality...
hallo, it would be nice to be able, like photoshop, to “alt clic” between two layers to make the upper layer affecting only the layer below. for instance we could blur a texture, color enhance the bokeh layer below,… best regards marc

I’m finding it VERY frustrating the need click in the layer pallet to select/activate another layer and even more frustrating I need to click ‘apply’ /hit enter for each move. There is  a lot of moving when making collage photos. Being able to click on the screen to activate the layer as per PS/Corel is so...

It would be very useful to be able to select part of one image and copy it onto another image. In the current version of RAW, in order to take part of one image and use it in another image one would need to load two images into layers and mask out a large part...

Apart from the ‘Gear Icon’, the name of which says little, there is no clear, quick, obvious way to generate a smart layer that is as simple as in Photoshop. A clearer, more concise method I think is needed no matter the module, and no matter whether an image is opened from Browse, LR, PS,...
Allow the Blending Mode to be changed to a common selection for multiple layers. Currently Blending Mode can only changed one layer at a time.

I would like to have following options when creating a new layer: Layer fill with overlay neutral color (50% gray) – use previous layer to create clipping mask Regards, Corneliu
Sometimes there a little something I would like to add or change in a photo.  It would be terrific if I could using just the cloning tool and a simple copy and paste mechanism, transfer from the clone/object from one photo layer to another.

Would love to see some if not all of PS layer blend modes available to ON1 Photo Raw, in LR CC, not just slider adjustments and to add the Color Picker option to RAW, you can do the color picker now, but it does not have the same effect as in PS CC.

I like capture one’s ability to have layers in the adjustment arena along with masks either by color or brushes. This affords the raw image a more dynamic range before enhancements and effects. Luminosity masking for various tools would be interesting also.
I use on1 as my main browser and editor (well, still as a basic first stage browser I use XnView). And I like it. As doing instructional stuff, I often need to take a picture, develop a photo and show back to user. It really slows down my workflow, when I need to constantly save...
I find it limiting that layers can be transformed only in a right angles. I would like each corner to work separately, to allow free transformation, image skewing. Imagine you want to put some texture onto the wall picture, which is angled. Or even better – imagine us, having a studio, trying to replace background...

Allow easy dodge & burn process by the use of only one layer and painting over it, avoiding the necessity to use too much brush layers, some of them to add exposure locally and other to reduce exposure locally too.

I’m suggesting the ability to perform multiple RAW conversions merged into the same output file, with different RAW conversion settings applied to each layer. For instance: one set of settings to bring out the clouds and blue in the sky, with a slight blur a second set to sharpen the details of  the people in...

Currently, in Effects, only the major title group of a filter is listed in the layer stack. If you use more than one filter from that group, all you see are the group titles, and not the subtitle of the individual filter. If you want to go back and make a change, it is difficult...

I would like ON1 to introduce layer groups, as it’s known from Photoshop for e.g. Recently, we can set the opacity of particular layer, or the whole layer stack. But – introducing layer groups, we would be able to set the opacity/mask the whole preset. Simply put – the preset would create its own, nested layer...
My hope is to do all my future processing with On1 raw and Layers. One feature I miss is the ability to auto align layers. To do any focus stacking I currently have to use Photoshop or some other specialized software in order to align the layers properly before starting the blending job.
