About the ON1 Photo RAW Project

The ON1 Photo RAW Project gives you the chance to be a part of what we're developing at ON1. You have a voice in the future of photo editing. Your ideas will help us deliver the best available apps for photography, give us insight into what's most important, and help spark innovation.

You must log in to submit an idea.

Share Your Ideas

Share your ideas for new Photo RAW features. Make sure you write a convincing description. Remember, people won't be able to give an idea a high rating unless they understand the idea completely.

Tell Your Friends

With supporters, your ideas will get higher ratings. In fact, tell everyone you know to support your idea. The more ratings an idea gets, the more likely it will be sent to our product development team.

ON1 Will Review It

After an idea reaches 200 ratings with a 3-star or higher rating, the project team will review the details and begin asking questions. We can't put every good idea into development, but we'll try!

Hi. It would be very useful to import photos from an SD card, for example, by having an “import …” command available in a popup that appears by clicking the right mouse button on a specific folder. Right now, in this popup appears an “export …” command. The idea is to incorporate a new command...

After you’ve rated or colour coded a collection of photos in Browse, it would be useful to have access to the ratings when you’re in Import, so you could have more choice as to what to import, for example, all red flagged photos to a Family folder, yellow to a Photo Walks folder, 5-starred ones...

The import to folders arrangements are quite limited. My preferred folder structure is YYYYMMDD which is taken from the Shot date in the Exif. It appears that I can only import images into a DD folder within a MM folder within a YYYY folder. Free viewer Faststone does just this, and also allows user control...

Some camera models include information in the EXIF files that identify the Release Mode (Single, EV Bracket, Continuous Shooting) and Sequence Number (of the image in that mode).  It would be useful for ON1 to make this information available in the image metadata to help users identify related images and shooting order.  An option to...

It would be helpful if one could export albums from one computer and import them into another running On1 Raw for folks migrating from Lightroom to On1 Raw. Here is my use case: Old computer has LR an On1 2019 installed. The pictures and LR catalog are on a Samsung T5 drive. Did a migration...

Currently, import presets are set to operate by merely merging metadata sets.  So if I use one preset that adds a keyword or description to a set of photos on import, then want to import another set of photos with a different preset that lacks the description and keyword, I have to manually delete the...

On the Import window show the dates of the picture in that medium (SD Card, Pen Drive, etc) and allow to unselect pictures based on their date. The idea behind it is, let’s say I’ve been taking pictures for the last 5 days and had already imported the first 4, the option would allow with...
Import: allow import to select by date (ala ACDSee) and exclude suspected ‘duplicates’ ala LR. Export: allow export to automagically create an export directory based on a template. e.g. exports could go to a directory called ‘exports’ under the source directory.

The file naming options in import are rather limited. Could you extend the date option to include time and then a suffix for those instances where I manage to take two photos in the same second? e.g YYYYMMDD-HHMMSSnnn Thanks, JH

I think that the actual import module is poor. I can live with the renaming file section but the create folder section is poor. Here is suggestion: – I want the imported photo be cataloged (stored in a new folder) by date shot first, a sequence number and add a name to the folder (example:...

The way import is now, the folder structure is way to limited. Add functionality to let users create folder structures based on metadata like it is in Lightroom, with no limitations… I for  one can not use On1 import because of this. I need a folder structure that like “/YYYY/YYYY-MM-DD/” Others may need a subfolder...

It would be a nice feature if there was a duplicate finder. This would allow us to free up space on our hard drives by finding exact duplicates. Reviewing them. Then deleting them. As I have copied photos and videos on my hard drive and renamed them I have found that there are many duplicates...

I shoot Fujifilm cameras, the GFX 50S, X-T2, X-H1, and the X-T1.  While I would love for ON1 Photo RAW to support tethering with these cameras, I suspect that is a very tall order.  Simpler and more versatile would be for Photo RAW to support automatic importing of files that appear in a watched folder. ...

It would be nice if the system filtered out and hid the photos that have already been imported that still reside on your SD Card.

On my Fujifilm X-T2 (and other fuji models ) the in camera will use a high quality JPG if it is available on the SD card, in lieu of the low quality JPG embedded in the RAW file to generate a preview on the LCD. This allows a very detailed preview, but when imported into...
Remember the source folder used during the last import session. Usually, the origin of photos does not change too much between sessions.

I am shooting on a regular basis hundreds of photos. It is now easy to import the photos with the updated import feature in Photo RAW. One thing which is bugging me is that, if you have a camera with dual card slot, both cards are imported. Potentially I could end up with hundreds of...

These are sort of linked. Please can images be imported in date taken order rather than alphabetical? My first import from my 5DSr had images in random order and since I used a serial number it had no logical correlation. It makes it difficult to group say HDR or pano sources without having to change...
I am an avid LR user and use ON1 as a plugin only. Would like to switch to ON1 as my image editor but here is the problem. I have over 70,000 images that have been tagged in LR and do not want to lose tag when switching to ON1. The question is, can I...

I was looking forward to the new import function with the ability to put in metadata on import. My first import created a tree of folders that I wasn’t really expecting. Similar to Apple Photos. I would like to see the folder tree to be definable by the user. If I want all the pictures...

As Import is now set up, it immediately starts to show all images on both cards (I use a camera’s with two card slots). Even when the second card is used as backup only, and thus contains the very same images with the very same names, they’re shown twice. Also the contenents of all subdirectories...
This will allow users to directly import into ON1  from a compliant scanner, etc.  I use this a lot in Photoshop and would like to be able to do this in On1 Photo Raw.

I don’t always remember to delete my memory card after import. Lightroom detects any photos that have previously been imported and deselects them in the import dialog. This functionality is needed in ON1 as I would have to remember and manually deselect them.

The main reason why I never use any import tool is, because I am not really sure whether these files have been imported correctly – so I prefer to go via the finder and check the files in Capture One afterwards. Also the speed of these importers is in many cases very slow. So, pls...

Please, please enhance the ability to insert metadata on import.  With the changes happening in Lightroom, I’d really like to dump it, but use the metadata import presets heavily.
