Google®/Nik® Collection Development Discontinued

Google/Nik® recently announced they will no longer update the Nik Collection of plug-ins or add any new features in the future. With this important photography news, we felt it was time ON1 reached out to the photography community on the topic.

Many photographers have had a great experience using the Nik Collection over the years but will eventually need to find alternatives for key parts of their photography workflow. We encourage anyone who has used the Nik Collection in the past to take a very close look at ON1 Photo, there are many similarities. Long time Nik user and industry leading educator, Matt Kloskowski, made the switch years ago and never looked back.
As you look for a new long term software provider, rest assured, ON1 is here to stay –  a very long time. We will continue to invest heavily in improving our products and inventing new technologies to serve you for years to come. Since our founding in 2005, we’ve done our best to deliver upon the ON1 promise of saving you time and frustration editing photos so you can spend more time behind the camera taking photos. The ON1 promise includes the belief customers should have complete control of their photography software. From the feature set, training topics important to them, the workflow they choose (plug-in or standalone app), the preferred computing platform or cloud service, or even how they purchase their software (subscription or a perpetual license). With ON1, customers are in complete control of their photography experience today, tomorrow and will be well into the future.
We want the photography community to continue to flourish. The Nik products were very good software, in fact, we knew many of their employees over the years. But that was the past and we need to continue looking forward to the future. If you used Nik before, you will love the ON1 apps. Our apps have grown considerably in feature set and ease of use over the years, while continuing to produce world-class results. Looking ahead, we invite you to give ON1 a shot. In the next week we will be releasing a big update to our flagship app, ON1 Photo RAW 2017. Version 2017.5 will bring the latest updates and powerful new features to our all-in-one photo organizer, editor, raw processor and effects app for both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. If you were using the Nik products as a plug-in, no worries, ON1 Photo is not only a non-destructive standalone app but it can also be used as a plug-in to other host apps. Keep a look out for our press release and we will also notify you once the update is available.
From everyone at ON1, thank you considering us and we hope you join our community very soon.
