ON1 Short Clip – Photo RAW Speed Unleashed

Posted in , , , , , , , ,

I’m so impressed (actually floored) with the overall speed of the new Photo RAW. It’s faster in so many areas and it keeps getting better by the day. I wanted to share this quick video of just the basic workflow of jumping around the app to show you how smooth and fluid it performs. I can tell the ON1 Dev Team spent a ton of time on the user experience. Great job!

Watching this has made me feel a LOT better about leaving LR behind and staying with ON1. I’ve been using both for a while now, and it’s become cumbersome – one app does some things that the other doesn’t.

I’m really looking forward to getting ON1 RAW !!

I agree with Christopher Robinson above. I’ve been doing the same and am looking forward to doing everything in On1 Raw.

But I’m wondering if there will be a way to create different treatments of the same photo (like using virtual copies in LR). I understand that everything will be non-destructive, which means I could just go back start a new treatment. But I may want to keep each of the treatments.

Good point! Will there be a “Virtual Copy” like in LR?

This will be included in a free update early next year.

Now that you’ve brought that up … that would be a problem for me if this isn’t supported. I sometimes created virtual copies so that I can compare multiple edits of an image for feedback.

I have a 3.5GHz i7 and 32GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM in my iMac so speed isn’t much of issue for me.

I would be impressed too … if I had the software to compare. Release date?

Will we be able to do what Liz has done through using ON1 as a plug-in for photoshop CC?

I have Lightroom 4. It seems redundant to use both LR 4 & Photo Raw. I understand it works alone or as a plugin, but wouldn’t it be a little confusing and overkill if using both?
    Not to mention….. time consuming.
I am thinking of leaving Lightroom behind & just use Photo Raw. Advice from anyone?
