ON1 Short Clip – New Local Adjustment Brush

Posted in , , , , , , ,

One of the best new features in ON1 Photo RAW is the new local adjustment brushes. The local adjustment brush works just like the masking brush and has the same Perfect Brush option to turn on to detect edges. It also allows you to selectively apply your adjustments and the ability to adjust the settings after the brushing is done.

The masks are really powerful on adjustment layers. You can copy and paste them, invert them and even create luminosity masks. You can also stack multiple adjustment layers. These can make a huge difference in your editing by just using a couple of the local adjustment layers.

Can you name (rename) the layers? that would be nice to name them with something meaningful, like “Lighten water” or “Darken Rocks”

This is great! I understand that the brushes will be available in all modules. So many times I have had to jump back to enhance or layers from effects to correct something I had overlooked.

I’d really need to see more local adjustments; especially curves and color, but also noise reduction, sharpening, whites/blacks. Are those coming?

This feature seems not to work in the Beta as described in the video clip hopefully it will in the next update.
