ON1 Short Clip – Lens Correction

Posted in , , ,

The New Lens Correction pane in version 2017.5 automatically detects your lens and reduces distortion, chromatic aberration and peripheral fall-off. It automatically applies the correction when you browse to a photo. Further manual adjustments can also be made in Develop. If there isn’t a built-in profile for your lens you can manually adjust it as well.

    Hi Dan

Wow, looking forward to this, although… I am realistic enough to realise that those of us with less popular/common combinations of cameras and lenses, might just have to wait longer until profiles for our cameras arrive. By the way I really hope that I am wrong to be so ‘cynical’? If not, then I’m sure that we will look forward to tutorials on how to get the best out of the combination of manual lens correction and the transform tool.

Having said that, this is yet another step towards Photo Raw becoming the ever more powerful suite that we are all looking forward to using.

    Best wishes

      Dear ON1,
Just downloaded Photo Raw 2017.5, and I must offer a full apology, for being so cynical in my previous message/comment. I didn’t really expect you to include obscure lenses, such as the ones on my Micro 4/3rds cameras. But, I am very grateful to find that you have.
At last I have an architectural shot with flat floors, and straight edges.

If lens correction is done in Lightroom should lens correction be turned off in ON1 RAW?

If you are using ON1 as a Lr plug-in than no lens correction is applied when launching ON1 from Lightroom. You can still make manual adjustments though, but no lens correction will be applied in ON1.

I would really like to use a more usable drop down where you can select any suitable lens profile to apply to your image. Currently this is automatic based on what ON1 reads from the EXIF data. It would also be great if there was a way to import lens profiles like presets. This will encourage 3rd parties to contribute.
