ON1 Inspiration – Creating Beautiful Black & White Images

As a wedding photographer capturing unique images is what it’s all about on the creative side. Whether it’s a unique location, a great looking couple, or just being at the right place at the right time- it all helps!

In this video, I am working with a beautiful bride in her amazing wedding gown during the daytime. One of my options was to create an image featuring the back of her gown. I will share with you what I was thinking on how to create a beautiful black and white yet maintaining details in the darks and whites of the image by using ON1 Photo RAW 2017. A big key is editing in color to get your mid-tones and sharpness precise throughout the image. Deciding which image works best in black and white can be a bit intimidating let alone deciding what tools are needed to make your images look stunning every time. I hope you enjoy this quick video!

Thank you Frank for that short video, which I found to be most interesting and of assistance regarding “thinking in Black and White” when post processing.

hallo Frank, thanks for this interesting video.
Do you mean in that video that the trick was to lighten the room and walls to have details everywhere before using global contrast and then, when you have a nice contrasty color image you do a black and white conversion and that’ it ?

generally i just tune the black and white point, HL and shadows, very low contrast and launch BW where i use local contrats. i am coming from sylver efex pro 2 u-points so i continue on this idea. i don’t tune wedding dress in color but after conversion.

    best regards
