Learn a very simple and fast technique for blending and smoothing skin tones on portraits in ON1 Photo RAW 2018. It’s incredibly easy and effective for us to use the Effects module to retouch our portraits and to smooth skin without making the skin look fake. Local adjustments give us the flexibility to brush in our smoothing, exactly where we need it. This works exceptionally well on highlights, redness, or darkness on portraits.

There are a few different ways to add interest to a dull sky without having to completely replace the sky when it comes to photo editing. A quick and easy way is to use the tone enhancer in ON1 Photo RAW 2018. It’s one method that works extremely well. If you’ve ever had a photo where you have a great foreground and subject, but the sky just doesn’t quite make the cut this is perfect. Remember, it’s not always necessary to replace the entire sky.
It is easy to combine multiple photos together and great creative with ON1 Photo RAW 2018. I put together this short (and fun) video so you can see just how easy it really is. I’ve also included step-by-step instructions below along with the practice files. So please follow along!
Luminosity Masks are a staple in my workflow for my landscape and travel edits. My favorite, is using luminosity masks on images that have intriguing textures and patterns such as this one from Death Valley National Park. The ease of separating the tones of an image with luminosity masks can save us a lot of time. Especially on images like this where the tones are very similar and the different patterns would make it difficult to use a masking brush for adding Contrast, Dynamic Range, and other filters in ON1 Effects. Luminosity masks give us more control to create something beautiful with our photos.
A luminosity mask is a powerful way to adjust very specific tonal regions in your photos. However, they can seem daunting to work with. In this Short Clip, see how ON1 Guru Scott Davenport works visually with luminosity masks to quickly and easily create masks for specific elements in his photo. With the classic masking mantra “black conceals, white reveals” in mind, working visually with the mask view makes luminosity masking much more approachable.
