Targeting Contrast & Detail Adjustments in RAW

I frequently see images where contrast, detail and clarity are applied image-wide and negatively impact soft elements, out of focus details and portrait subjects. In this video I’ll showcase how to use the non-destructive tools in Photo RAW to avoid doing this in your edits and to correct previously edited images.

Using Develop to Make Masking Simple

Often when I first open a raw photo I know that I’ll want to edit one part of it differently than another. Photo RAW’s non-destructive, masked workflow makes this easier than ever. A trick I often employ is starting by creating a mask before I do even the most basic of raw processing. By initially adjusting Develop’s basic tone sliders to unusual extremes, I can simplify creating a very useful mask to use later in the editing process. In this video, I’ll walk you through my process.

Beyond Composition: Designing the Architectural Photograph

Hello ON1 Plus community and greetings from Chicago! Can we talk? Like many of you many of you, I was frustrated by the idea of composition for a long time. No matter how much I read or how deep I looked, I could never get an adequate explanation of how to do it right. “Place your subject off center and use leading lines” was about as deep as it went.

Create Dramatic Architecture Images

Learn how to blend photos into a panorama really fast and create a beautiful dramatic architectural image as the end-result. ON1 Photo RAW 2018 makes it really easy for us to blend our images together, so that makes it easier for me while shooting to not have to dread the post-production of shooting Panos. For this inspiration video, I’m going to take you on a trip from Istanbul to Manhattan and let you know my thought process for capturing with the camera all the way to post-production with ON1 Photo RAW 2018.

Wacom Pen Tablets & Photo RAW

Here’s a short video on how to best setup and use a Wacom pen tablet with Photo RAW. I’ll talk a bit about what tablets I use, and show you how I set them up and use them in my editing workflow. We’ve had a lot of questions about pen tablets in the Plus forums, which led us to create this video. Remember to use the Ask a Coach Plus forum if you have questions or things you want to learn more about. It drives this type of community content. Below the break are links to the tablets I showcase in this video.

Luminosity Masks and Portraits

So we already talked about the Science behind Luminosity Masks and how to use them with Landscapes.
This week we are going to look at how we can use Luminosity Masks with Portraits.   Don’t read too far into this, in reality, it is no different than using them with Landscapes.  All of the principles remain the same we just have to decide where we want the viewer to focus.  Luminosity Masks can be instrumental with portraits, they are not just Landscape tools!

Luminosity Masks and Landscapes

So we talked about the Science behind Luminosity Masks last week.  While I love that stuff (the inner number nerd in me) you may have found it to be a little underwhelming because we were working on a Test Image.
