Time-lapse Live Q&A & Summer Photo Contest Winners!
In this Live Q&A Laurie Excell and I announce the Summer Photo Challenge winners and run through some of our favorite images. It was an incredible group of submissions everyone. Great job! If your image was chosen please send me a message in the Ask A Coach forum or send me a message with where to send your Black Rapid strap. We also talked a fair bit about this months subject of time-lapse photography, took some general photography questions and talked about some of our favorite locations and why we return to them year after year. We had a little technical glitch with our webinar software in the middle of the event which we apologize for. Thanks so much to those of you who hung in there while we got the system back online. We’ve cut that downtime out of the recorded version.

Time-lapse with GoPro & ON1 Photo RAW 2017
This week we focus on action cameras. I have a GoPro Hero 5 and will do several time-lapse videos using various mounts and using both Time-lapse Video and Time-lapse Photo modes. And finally we will process a Time-lapse Photo clip using the free GoPro software Studio as well as adding creative touches in ON1 Photo RAW with final video rendering using Quicktime Player.
Time-lapse: Androids, Intervals & Shutter Speed
Laurie did a great video last week on capturing time-lapse footage with an iPhone. I wanted to showcase how I use my Android (a Pixel) to capture time-lapse and do a little comparison between the time-lapse output of a smartphone vs a big camera. It’s a short video, but somehow I manage to wander into a discussion of determining what interval to choose for your time-lapse as well as optimizing time-lapse shutter speeds. Below the break I added a little cheat sheet for the interval calculation:
A Look Ahead in ON1 Plus
Hi everyone! Back in July, we had this great Best of ON1 Plus in 2017 First Half recap. Since July we’ve had even more great stuff, including Matt’s Long Exposure Course in July and Blake’s incredible series on Artistry in ON1 Photo RAW. Along with all that we’ve had monthly photo critiques, multiple contests and challenges. Enough of the past, it’s time to look ahead at what’s on deck for the future for Plus.
Summer Photo Challenge (Win Cash & Blackrapid Straps)
Let’s see your absolute best image of this past summer! — Wait a second, no we haven’t forgotten our friends in the Southern Hemisphere. Just put “your summer is our winter” in the submission description. My friends at Blackrapid have offered to provide the overall winner with a Sport Breathe strap as well as Cross Shot Breathe straps for the second and third place winners. First place will also receive $150 in cash, while second gets $100. Laurie Excell and I will select the winning images as well as some runners up to showcase in a Long Exposure Challenge video at month’s end. Shooting Time-lapse with iPhone
Welcome to week two of Introduction to Time-lapse Photography. This week I am going to share some of my techniques for creating time-lapse with my smart phone. I will cover in-camera time-lapse as well as how to use Apps to gain more creative control. And, finally, I’ll go over some basic post processing techniques that I use to help make my time-lapse videos pop.
