Long Exposures: How to Get Longer Shutter Speeds

In this first video, we’re going to take a look at the basics of shutter speeds in the camera and how we can extend them. There’s of course Neutral Density Filters (ND)… but we really want to save that for last. So in this video we’ll talk about the 3 ways to get longer shutter speeds both with settings in the camera as well as when filters come in to play.

Hi Again! Let's Talk Long Exposure Photography

I hope you’re summer is off to a great start. As always I’m really excited to be back here at ON1 Plus as a guest coach for the month. And I’m also excited to share a new course I’ve been working on – Long Exposure Photography and Editing. I’ve been a fan of long exposures ever since I clicked my first 60 second exposure 🙂 Ah… the feeling of waiting 60 seconds for a photo…

Thanks and See Again Soon! All About Color Video Series

Hi All. I just wanted to say thanks for having me as your guest coach in April. Getting back in here and interacting with all of the Plus members has not only been a great time for me, but I always learn a lot from you guys. I hope I was able to help you understand some of the geeky/techie side of color a little more this month. We’ve made the series available for download below. I hope that you take away that these things are indeed important. But hopefully you also found that it’s easier than you thought to keep track of color spaces.

Using the Histogram’s RGB Color Channels

Continuing on with our discussion on color, I see a lot of questions on the color channels we can see in our histograms. You could see this in camera if you have your histogram turned on, or you can also see it on all of the various editing apps under the Histogram panels. So what do these channels do? Do they really affect anything? Well, let’s take a look.

Color Correction Part 2

In Part 2 of Color Correction with ON1, we’re going to look at some of the more creative aspects of color correcting photos. Especially with our outdoor landscape and nature photos, there is no “right” color for it. So it starts to become more about our personal style and what colors we envision for the photos.

Color Correction Part I

In this first of two videos, we’re going to look at some of the technical aspects of color correcting a photo in ON1 Raw. We’ll look at how we can neutralize color casts, with the White Balance tools as well as take a look at what the Highlight/Shadow Purity controls do.

Color Spaces and Saving

In this final video I’ll talk about the various options when outputting your photos, whether it be for web, print or something else.

Adjusting Color Space Settings

It’s time for our second video on color spaces. This one goes in to how we can work with the different color spaces in ON1 and what the best practices are for keeping things consistent.

Introduction to Color Spaces

Alright, we’re going to dive in to color by first taking a look at color spaces. This is where it all starts and ends in our photo workflow. In this first of three videos, we’ll take a look at the colors spaces we’ll use as a photographer, and find out the differences between them.

Hi Again! April is All About Color

Once again, I’m psyched to be back as a guest coach here at ON1 Plus. I feel like I just left 🙂 This time around we’re going to concentrate on color. Spring is here and it’s a very colorful time of the year. So we figured it was a great topic.
