ON1 Layers will no longer be a separate module. Instead, the power of layers will be accessible within the non-destructive workflow inside of Develop and Effects. This will allow for creating or editing multi-layered files, including raw files, and keep the non-destructive settings for each photo layer. Customers will also be able to move, size, and mask each layer. More importantly, and a new concept, each layer has its non-destructive settings, all the way back to the original file. What’s most exciting is if you are working with raw files, powerful adjustments like exposure, highlights, shadows, and camera profiles can now be processed using the raw data in a layered photo workflow. All without having to change modules or applications.
We have a patch update available for ON1 Photo RAW 2018 owners. We recommend all 2018 owners update to this version.
I want to quickly show you how to create a Cinematic Look in this short video using new LUTs. Customers love the new LUTs feature in ON1 Photo RAW 2018.5. You can stack, blend, and mask many different LUTs together, and you have full control of all the tools as you normally would in the Effects module. I will pull it all together by adding a border using the Borders filter.
Using the new Camera Profiles in ON1 Photo RAW 2018.5 is a great way to jump-start your photo editing. They are an excellent starting point when editing and will adjust the interpretation of the raw data to bias it towards what you are shooting. Follow along as I show some excellent Fujifilm® profiles.
Join Dan Harlacher for an exclusive ON1 Plus live event (recording) covering everything the new features in ON1 Photo RAW 2018.5. Dan takes a deeper dive into what’s going on behind the scenes. Bring your technical questions and hear them answered live.
Special note: In the release of ON1 Photo RAW 2019 we added the ability for customers to transfer their photos with raw processing and editing settings from Lightroom’s Develop module (including crop, retouching, and local adjustments) to ON1 Photo RAW 2019. That’s correct! The photos are also migrated non-destructively so they can be re-edited in ON1 Photo RAW 2019. Learn more about the Lightroom® Migration here.
